I was in the USAF in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1962 when Ferlin came to do a show at our airman's club. I claimed a front row table 4 hours ahead of time and waited. Some people are singers, some are pickers, but Ferlin was an ENTERTAINER! Well worth the 4 hour wait. In 1969 we moved to Hendersonville and Ferlin lived on Old Hickory Lake about a mile from our house. Would see him in the yard many times. Ferlin has never been given the credit he is rightfully due in country music.

Heard Mr. Husky's magnificent voice on GONE. And DOVE as a boy in the 50's. Rediscovering him now and marveling at the range of his talent through YouTube.

I'm 77 years old now. Ferlin has been a favorite entertainer of mine for years and years and I sadly miss him. He put more love, feeling and care into a song than anyone I have ever heard sing. It bothers me no end that I never got to meet him in person and express my feelings to him, but I'll never forget him.

My dad loved to listen to Ferlin sing, and it must have rubbed off onto me because my wife and I now love to listen to Ferlin singing one of our all time favorite country songs "Gone". The name Ferlin Husky will always be synonymous with country greats.
