Thank you for this wonderful tribute to Ferlin Husky. I grew up in So. California. My uncle Tom Turman played lead guitar for Smokey Rogers at the old Bostonia Ballroom in El Cajon (San Diego). "They were country before country was cool" to quote the song. So true. Great music, great songs.

Since I first saw Ferlin Husky singing "Gone" I have loved his talent, humor and good looks. I never swooned over any singer, and while I enjoyed songs by Sinatra, Perry Como, and Presley - no entertainer thrilled me as did Ferlin Husky. Even as his age showed on "Country's Family Reunion" (and I have all the tapes), I found him still very attractive. I also have a set of tapes of Grand Ole Opry star performances, and my heart sill skips a beat when handsome Ferlin takes the stage and sings "Wings of a Dove." Of course, I'm now 79 years old, and heartbeat skipping is a part-time occupation, but Ferlin Husky is, has always been, and always will be my favorite entertainer in any genre. He and his music stand head and shoulders above today's so-called county stars. The music isn't the same, and no one can close to Ferlin Husky. I say thank-you for my DVDs that feature the greatest country star of all time.

My parent's and my brother were fortunate enough to meet Ferlin years ago. He actually came to our house (not something many can say). I unfortunately hadn't been born yet, but a friend of my parents played drums on the club circuit and had became friends with Ferlin. When he was in town once he came to our house (with my parent's friend) to meet them. They have pictures and Ferlin gave my mom and metal cigarette case with cigarettes with Ferlins name printed on them. My older was young, but still remembers that day.I bought that home from my mom and live there today, and I am honored and proud to be able to say that such a country legend has been in my home. I only wish I had been around to meet him myself.
